Factory Nightscape

Encompassed by 3 sides of sea waters, here was the choice location for the opening of a coal distribution port that began to revitalize the area from 1872. Through the development of shipbuilding, the steel industry, oil refining and more, the harbors came to be a most important aspect of Muroran’s foundation. From the illumination of the stacked factories you can see the largest suspension bridge of eastern Japan – Hakucho “Swan” Bridge – surely a scene to remember.
